Four Basic, Elemental Weight Loss Tips That Last

Many of you who are reading this are wondering how to lose weight. Some of you have lost weight in the past but you were unable to keep it off. Others of you have given up. You've heard the horror stories about what it takes, or is supposed to take, to lose weight. Torture and starvation, you've wisely decided, just aren't for you. You have "unlucky genes" or you're getting older, and you just can't help it that you're not an athletic beauty like Jillian Michaels or her male equivalent.

The reality is that you don't need to starve nor do you need to torture yourself in order to permanently lose weight. You need focus, you need discipline, and you need certain intelligence, yes; but nothing too extreme. In fact, trying to lose weight permanently through extreme means doesn't even work. It's true that torture and weight loss don't go together. Trying to get too extreme in weight loss efforts actually makes you weak and unhealthy, anyway. Not to mention miserable.

What are some basic, elemental things that you can do to lose weight in a healthy and sustainable way?

1. Change what you're drinking. Deliberately replace all soda pop with filtered or mineral water. Add flavor to the water with a slice of lemon or lime. If you really must have a sweeter drink, make some tea (black, green, or herbal) and sweeten it with honey or stevia. Replace lactic-acid producing cow's milk with the far more nutritious almond milk. Stop putting sugar or creamer in your coffee and learn to like it black. (It could help in your efforts to buy some more expensive, more flavorful coffee.) If you drink alcohol, stay strictly with red wine until your weight is under control. (Incidentally, if you're overweight you should not drink alcohol because being fat and drinking at the same time puts tremendous pressure on your liver.

2. Make your own meals. This not only saves you a lot of money, it puts you in control of all ingredients. Store-bought and processed meals are all too often loaded with unhealthy ingredients. If need to travel a lot for work purposes this means you'll have some advanced planning and preparation to do. Don't be lazy! This doesn't mean that you can't go out to eat-just make doing so a luxurious treat, not a habit. And stay out of the fast food joints.

3. Eat more often but eat smaller portions. These two things go hand in hand, since when you eat more often you'll feel fuller and stop gorging yourself every time you sit down to eat. Eating more often also means you fire up the metabolic fires more.

4. Get rid of the empty carb snacks and the usual dessert fare. Some things to eat as snacks and desserts: unsweetened yogurt with fruit and nuts thrown in; fresh or dried fruits; mixed nuts; pieces of cheese; roasted sunflower seeds; celery sticks or baby carrots dipped in bleu cheese. Smoothies also make for supreme desserts.

These are basic things that anyone can do to lose weight and keep it off, all without torture.

Junk Food and Weight Loss Does Not Mix

Obesity is an out of the ordinary increase of body fat, usually 20 percent or more over a person's idyllic body weight. Obesity gives rise to illness, disability, and death. Much anxiety has been expressed about the growing rate of obesity worldwide. The World Health Organization terms obesity a worldwide epidemic and the diseases that can occur due to obesity are becoming more and more widespread.

Too much weight can result in many serious, potentially life-threatening health problems, including hypertension, Type II diabetes mellitus increased risk for coronary disease, and infertility. The cause of obesity continue to be talked and studied and although it has long agreed that obesity is a result of too little exercise and too much eating new research suggests there may be some hereditary influence with genetic tendency for obesity to the mothers weight. Researchers are for the most part disturbed about the rising amount of children and young people who are obese in the US and Europe

In the western culture, being slim is the prize, which most women want. In the past being fat meant affluence and social admiration. Later on, a new ethos emerged where slenderness was the sigh a beauty and health. There were many social stigmas attached to being fat such as laziness and gluttony, which persists today.

Yet for many African Americans and Hispanics, as well as other ethnic groups, a larger body still holds positive social value. There are a number of treatments associated with losing weight. The most tried and true method remains decreasing the caloric intake and increasing energy output. Exercise burns fat stores and increases the metabolic rate for up to 15 hours after.

Keeping away from junk food is an absolute must when you are trying to lose weight. Fast foods such as Pasta, burgers, pizzas, fish and chips, crisps, and sweets have all at some time been classified as junk foods. There is no doubt, however, that it would be extremely difficult to design a balanced diet based exclusively on junk food since most have a high fat and salt content.

Health Tips and Weight Loss For Teens

The biggest mistake you can make in your teens or early twenties is to believe that you can trash your body now and then "make up for it" later. It is how well you look after your body today that will determine your health in your thirties and beyond. Healthy living and achieving weight loss for teens is all about paying attention to certain areas of your life:

Eating Habits

You really need to take a good honest look at your eating habits. If you regularly eat take-out meals such as pizza, french fries, doughnuts and pastries etc, you are clogging up your arteries with plaque. Severe plaque build up puts you at risk of heart disease especially once you reach forty or fifty. Eliminating the fatty and sugary foods from your diet will help protect you from this restricting disease as well as having you looking leaner in that favourite outfit.

Health For Teens

A healthy diet is a combination of healthy, nutritious foods in moderation. You should try to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein such as chicken and fish, wholegrain breads and cereals, low fat dairy foods and only healthy monounsaturated fats such as olive oil or nuts and seeds. Keep the use of salt to a minimum and be sure to drink up to 8 glasses of water per day.

Make sure you don't skip breakfast. A healthy breakfast every morning controls your appetite and is vital for staying fit in the long term. In addition, start taking a multivitamin each day to ensure you get all the vitamins and minerals you need.

Social Life

Keep your social life healthy. Try to minimise the amount of alcohol you drink. Better still, drink lower alcohol drinks or just plain soda water when partying. Alcohol contributes to the storage of belly fat and also increases your appetite. Also, when you consume alcohol together with fatty foods your body burns less calories and stores more fat.

Exercising Habits

Try to be more active in your everyday life. Find a sport or activity that you like to do and do it regularly. Start walking more often or even hang out with sporty friends that inspire you. Cut your television viewing time in half. You'll be surprised by how much time you spend sitting in front of a TV. Fill up that time being active and you will be much thinner and healthier as a result. Even just a little regular exercise every week will make an improvement. Not only will it help control your appetite, it will also help you sleep better, reduce stress and build your self-esteem.

Healthy Body Image

So many young women and young men today hate their bodies. With so many messages from the media and society to look 'skinny' and beautiful, it is no wonder that they judge themselves as imperfect. To respect your body, adopt a healthy-looking role model who is fit and has real curves. Celebrities such as J.Lo and Beyonce, Tyra Banks, are all great examples of how you can be glowing with health and be sexy without looking like a sickly stick figure.

Taking care of your body now will guarantee you have a healthy, fit, and sexy body that will turn heads for many years to come. Best of all, eating well and moving your body are the best natural self confidence builders you can have for your entire life.

Weight-Loss - How a Gusty Oversized Girl Shed Her Fat To Become Extremely Attractive

I was smiling to myself when I read the story of Linda (name changed but the story is true and factual).

One day, a photograph of a big oversized girl in her early twenties was splashed throughout the newspapers in Malaysia. The photograph showed a plain looking oversized girl who was sitting on top of a hapless man, pinning him down by her sheer weight.

When I read the news story, it told of how Linda was the victim of a snatch thief who went for her handbag, but this gusty oversized pounder of a girl was not going to take it lightly. She pounced on the snatch thief and pinned him down, and yelled for help.

Oversized, and unflattering in looks, she spoke of having to walk alone back from work at a photo studio where she worked as a clerk, as she had no boy friend.

Three months down the road, I was again surprised by another photograph.

This time the photograph showed the same Linda - but as a dashing, slim and attractive girl. Gone was the fat, the flabby thighs, and what remained was a vastly improved Linda with new attractive looks, and a new wardrobe.

How did Linda make that transition from oversized and shunned lady to a desirable siren?

What transpired was that when her photograph was published in newspapers nationwide, there was a boss from a Weight Loss and Slimming Centre who knew Linda would benefit from a course on dieting and weight loss and control. This owner sponsored her for this course, and so 3 months later, he had transformed Linda to a dashing beauty.

The crux of this story is simply this: You can undergo a course of dieting and weight loss, and emerge a physically better person. Going for a course means discipline, and stems an air of finality that you are taking the initiative to get yourself back into shape and better health.

For those who are in need, you can pick up a lot of pointers, tips and techniques for natural weight loss methods for free by reading testimonials and reports by others who have been through it all...and have gotten their shapes and sizes back. What remains is a self imposed discipline to take action. The battle of weight control starts in the mind, and that is where you need to start if you wish to have the best size, shape and weight. Once that is done, you are well on the road to an improved weight and better health.

Health Benefits of Acai Berry and Weight Loss Benefits

What are the Health Benefits Of Acai Berry?
I am going to do something a little different this time and I am not going to tell you what some companies are saying that the benefits are. I am going to tell you about my personal experience and what benefits it had for me.
I am going to start by telling you a little about myself and where I was in my life when I first discovered it. I was always very healthy and slim all through school and into my twenties. I always lead a very active life, was a very social person and had a lot of friends.
In my late twenties I finally met the love of my life and we got married when I was 28 years old. After being married for two years we had our handsome baby boy, and two years later we had our beautiful baby girl. And of course with each pregnancy came huge changes to my body and my self confidence. Don't get me wrong I love my children and if I had to do it all over again I would not change a thing. But after my second child, and let's face it I wasn't getting any younger. I developed some health problems that affected my life like I had never imagined possible.
I began to be tired and sleepy all the time, I developed digestion problems which caused gas and problems with my stomach, I could not get a good night sleep, my immune system was weak so I was getting sick a lot, and of course the curse that every woman dreads I started to developed fat in places that I had never had before and gained about 20 pounds. And to top it all off I had convinced myself that my husband wasn't attracted to me anymore because of this.
So after trying anti depressants, taking drugs for my stomach problems, taking sleeping pills to sleep, and trying to lose weight using diets, exercises, and diet pills, which only made me feel very funny by the way nothing was working. So the next time I went to visit my doctor for a check up, I told her my concerns and that I didn't want to have to take all of these drugs and besides nothing was really working anyway. So she suggested that I try a new thing that had just been released and was getting grave reviews.
She suggested that I try using Acai Berry because it was suppose to help combat all of my symptoms and it was all natural and was not a harsh drug. Well to start with the Health Benefits Of Acai Berry were astonishing for me. Within only a couple weeks of using it I was sleeping much better, my stomach never bothered me anymore, I wasn't getting sick anymore, my energy level was in overdrive through out the day, and the best part of all I was losing weight and I wasn't doing anything like dieting, I was just doing my everyday thing like I always did. It had actually greatly changed my life in only a couple of weeks.
Now I want to tell you a little more about the Weight Loss Benefits Of Acai Berry. After using it for only 6 to 7 weeks I had actually lost 21 pounds, and I felt great, after all I had 2 beautiful children, I had lots of energy to keep up with them, I didn't have any more stomach problems, my skin looked vibrant and healthy and the best of all I had my sexy firm body back and I loved it (He He).
And another thing that I mentioned earlier was that I had convinced myself that my husband didn't find me sexy anymore. Well let me tell you that now that I have my confidence back and the body that I use to have there is no doubt in my mind that he finds me very sexy. It has turned the tables completely around. I even play the make believe I am sleeping card every now and then just to keep him in his place (you know what I am talking about, and damn it feels good He He).
So to sum t up in a nutshell the Health Benefits Of Acai Berry and the Weight Loss Benefits Of Acai Berry were unbelievable for me. It has been a little over a year since I first tried it and I continue to use it every day and I feel better and healthier than I ever have. From My personal experience I would recommend this to everyone whether you think you need it or not, it will change your life. And it has many other benefits than the few that I experienced. The formula that I use and is one of the top rated products available is one called Acai Power Blast and I would recommend it to everyone.

Weight Loss And Water - How Important Is It?

Everyone knows the importance of water and the role it has on the human body.
The tragedy is many people are not drinking enough.

Those who should pay close attention to their water intake are people who are trying to lose weight, body build and stay fit.

Not many know that other than keeping our bodies fully hydrated, drinking ample water has many other advantages like - water helps speed up the metabolism of a human body, water improves the skin, water helps in better digestion and water hydrates muscle cells to help body builders lift more weight.

Research has resulted that approximately 80% of the population is acutely dehydrated and is thus suffering from low energy, pale skin and mood swings. Mild dehydration is also the most common cause for daytime fatigue in offices and schools. What needs to be done to avoid this condition is to drink about 10 to 12 glasses of water everyday.

The truth about water is that water is the single most vital nutrient which our body requires more than anything else in the world. Scientifically speaking, a human brain is 95% water, the muscles are 75% water, the lungs are almost 90% water and blood is 82% water, and is therefore critically important for proper health, growth, and development of a human body.

It is one of the most important nutrients required by our body to balance all our body systems, including the heart, muscles, brain, kidneys and lungs. To more about the value of water and weight loss, read on...

Drink water for beautiful skin.

Drinking adequate amount of water helps prevent sagging of skin at an early age. And in case you are working on losing weight, sagging skin can be a very normal after effect which can be avoided by drinking ample water to keep your skin firmer.

When you drink ample water, the body cells which are shrinking due to weight loss are buoyed by water, which makes your skin plump, keeping it clear and healthy.

Generally, water also acts like a natural beautifier keeping your skin soft, supple and glowing naturally. Always ensure a proper intake of water for a glowing and healthier skin, free of spots and wrinkles.

Water helps increase energy levels in a body.

Water plays a very important role in energy transformation, since water is the medium through which all the energy reactions take place in a human body. If you drink less quantity of water, you will become dehydrated. Dehydration often leads a human body to become lethargic, leading to a low strength and endurance performance by you.

Water and weight loss and digestion

If you want to lose weight drinking water is one of the most important activities to be included in the list of your things to do. Drinking lots of water will make you feel less hungry, thus curbing your habit to snack every now and then. Also, drinking water during a meal helps the food to get digested easily, hence naturally suppressing your appetite. Drinking excess water also helps shedding of the stored fat inside the body which led to weight gain.

Water also helps in detoxifying your kidneys and liver and hence enhancing the internal digestive system of the body. Excess water intake also carries out with it, the extra waste stored in the body.

Proper intake of water reduces stress and fatigue.

By providing refreshing an exhausted human body, water reduces stress and fatigue. Day fatigue which is most common to creep into you when you are working all day long in an office or school or working out in gym, can be avoided by immediately drinking a glass of cold water to keep your body fully hydrated and fresh. A dehydrated body is bound to be more stressed and weak than a hydrated one.

Water speeds up the metabolism rate of the body

Drinking adequate amount of water helps improve the digestive process of the body and also help's in keeping a healthy urinary tract and digestive system by detoxifying the waste which might be stored inside the body.

Water also helps burn fat in the human body, making it easier for the food to be digested and hence reduce constipation. This is especially important in the case of bodybuilders who often consume amounts of food, vitamins and supplements, which are much larger than the intake of a normal human body.

Drinking water decreases the risk of diseases.

Studies have shown that an increased intake of water has been helpful in decreasing the risk of colon cancer by 45%. Drinking adequate amount has also been proved to reduce the risk of bladder cancer by 50% alongside reducing the potential risk of breast cancer in women.

Consuming lots of it also keeps your blood pure and free from its impurities alongside keeping your blood pressure normal and makes your body, muscles and bones healthier. Proper intake and hydration is also believed to prevent kidney stones and urinary tract infections.

So next time you feel like drinking a coffee, tea or soda, remind yourself that you have another natural and much safer option to decrease your fatigue and feel fresh. And that option is, to have a chilled glass of water!

Fast Weight Loss Takes Time

I recently received the following email:

Q. Five weeks ago, I began an exercise program and so far I have not lost any weight or gained in muscle tone, which is my goal. Regardless, I intend to keep it up, knowing that the results I want will occur if I give it time.

A. Yes, your results will occur if given enough time. Just stay the course. Be consistent and you'll get there. Luckily she was not upset about the lack of progress on her bathroom scale but most people aren't so willing to take that time.

Typical Dieter Losing Weight with Exercise: Ms. Too Tight Pants Decides to Drop a Dress Size

1. She starts out feeling excited, knowing she'll lose the weight she wants in the long run, if she can stay with it. (She's read the books. She knows this eating better and exercising more works).

2. She starts feeling better right away, although the scale shows no difference. (Results take awhile to build, and she knows this but it gets harder and harder to wait.)

3. Her clothes begin to fit looser. People start to notice, asking "Hey you're looking good. What are you doing?" (Things are starting to happen, but not very quickly).

4. She does "all the right things," such as eating well and getting good rest. She's tracking what she's eating and keeping a journal. It's all going great. (Consistency is the secret and a very good discipline).

5. Since she's been "so good" she decides to step on the scale. She's even got rewards in mind depending on how much she's lost. (Where's the evidence? She's getting impatient and wants to know this is working).

6. Alas! The scale shows a three pound weight gain and she throws her hands up in despair saying, "This doesn't work! I quit!" (The scale doesn't show us what is going on inside, it only weighs the total package. Maybe she just finished drinking 16 ounces of water, that's a pound right there).

7. She dismisses the real evidence (how she feel better and looks better; how she's been getting compliments; how her clothes fit better and some are getting too lose to wear) and she decides instead to rely of the wisdom of the bathroom scale. That piece of metal sitting on the bathroom floor, known for wildly inaccurate results, but nevertheless trusted as the ultimate authority.

She may have even started to gain some valuable active muscle tissue that supports and sustains the body, creates beautiful curves, and burns calories in the process, but without the result she wanted to see on her scale, she's quit.

Your body is made up of fat, skin, bone and muscle (plus water). When you exercise the goal is to increase the muscle and decrease the fat. A pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat, so regardless of what number you see on the bathroom scale, if you have been exercising, you are building a better, healthier frame.

Give your body a chance to display the results you seek. Rely on the evidence you see in how your clothes fit for instance. If you're losing inches, but the scale hasn't shown a change just wait. The scale will catch up soon enough. If you've gotten on the path to better health and weight loss, stay the course. Fast weight loss takes time.

Weight Loss Surgery is an Option

Without a doubt one of the biggest issues we have in society is obesity. It is one of the biggest epidemics in North America, and people's quality of life is being severely reduced because of it. Everyone's heard of Super Size Me, and the media keeps talking about how our society has now become fat. It is logical then to say that, if people were to lose weight, their quality of life would increase significantly.

There are many different types of diets, and whether they work or not really depend on the user. Of course, there are fad diets, diets that are quite dangerous. However, for some people dieting and exercising is almost next to impossible. The next option therefore is surgery. Generally there are four different types of surgery one can undergo. They all work essentially under the same principle: make you feel full faster while eating less by reducing capacity of food eaten.

First off we have the Vertical Banded Gastroplasty, aka "Stomach Stapling". This procedure is known to be safer than the more drastic gastric bypass, which basically rewires your digestive system by bypassing your stomach. However, this procedure is not at all reversible, as it requires stapling and cutting of the stomach. There are many serious complications that can arise from this surgery. One real advantage of this surgery is though, it does not interfere with your body's intake of nutrition, thus reducing the chance of malnutrition.

Up next we have what doctors call the Biliopancreatic Diversion surgery. As with the one before, this one be undone. A large part of your stomach is removed, while the remaining part is diverted straight to the final part of the small intestine. You can be sure that your stomach would be stapled, and cut up, along with your bowls. Because of this, this surgery has the highest mortality rate out of all the procedures. And you can look forward to a life time of mal-nutrition monitoring and supplements. But, this surgery does give you the fastest, most rapid weight lost out of all the surgeries.

Mentioned earlier, the third option we have is the gastric bypass. Stomach Stapling is as what it is; your stomach is stapled into a smaller pouch. This of course reduces the amount of food you can eat, and allows you to feel full with less food. It also forces your body to absorb less of the nutrition in the food. However, as with all these major surgical options, this procedure is next to impossible to reverse. And there's also the dumping syndrome - food has the potential of going through your digestive system.

The last, and safest surgery is the Laproscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding procedure, aka Lap-Band. It works under the same principle of reducing the amount of food you eat, by placing a limit on it. However, because it uses an adjustable band instead of stapling or removing portions of your digestive system, it is reversible. It is done via a laparoscope, meaning it is much less invasive than the other procedures - small incisions are used. As a result, recovery time for the procedure is quick, and complications are minimized. Weight lost results is comparable with the other procedures, and again, this is completely reversible.

Before choosing surgery as an option for weight loss, always make sure to do your research and consult with your doctor. This is not a simple matter. Not only could you potentially transform your life, but you need to ensure that what you're doing is best suited for you. Healthy living doesn't come easy!

Dieting and Weight Loss - Facing the Truth and Taking Action

Dieting is something that hundreds of thousands of people in the United States try every single year. Many people fail however, and few who succeed to lose any considerable weight at all manage to keep it off for any significant period of time. Dieting is not always purely about improving ones aesthetic beauty however - there are literally some people who are so heavy that their weight is verging on (if it isn't already) endangering their life. That is why for many people, in many cases, it is important not to simply see dieting and losing weight as a desirable action, but as a necessary, life-saving action.

While that may sound extreme, it is absolutely true. All you have to do to see these people is to turn on the Discovery channel; there is typically a program airing featuring one of these people around once a week. Being in the same circumstances as them is not a good thing at all, yet an increasing number of us are heading towards not only significant but outright dangerous levels of obesity. If you're one of these people, you will do well to realize first off that hope is not lost. Dieting can save your life, but you need not panic, for the actions you need to take immediately to start shedding that excess weight are not likely to be quite as daunting as you might assume. One of the problems that can paralyze the ability of many of these people to lose that weight is the fact that they assume the changes they'd need to make would be too hard, and too fast. Small, gradual changes are actually the easiest way for most people to lost weight effectively, and in fact increase the likelihood that the weight they shed will stay off for good.

You can start one week by saying that you will not eat out at all that week. You would be amazed at what some of the fast food does to your body! The next week you could follow up by removing all junk food. Some of the junk food that people eat actually kills the organs inside of your body if eaten in large enough quantities. Simply replace each unhealthy meal or snack with one containing more vegetables and healthy fat-free ingredients and you can continue to satisfy your hunger in a healthier way whilst watching the pounds roll off like water from a ducks back. The more you do, the better off you will be at the end of your diet. Remember, your diet only works as long as you are motivated and do not relapse!

Emotions and Weight Loss - Fear of Being Attractive

With the emphasis on the beautiful and fit it's hard to imagine someone actually being afraid of being attractive. Unfortunately, it is an all too common problem with people and weight loss. The overweight individual is doing great on their weight loss program. S/he has a great healthy eating plan leading to slow steady weight reduction. The clothes are getting looser. S/he's feeling better... then, wham, suddenly s/he sabotages everything accomplished so far.

Reasons Some are Afraid of Being Attractive

Can you come up with a few reasons why there would be fear of being attractive? A few are:

  • Fear of physical intimacy
  • Fear of emotional intimacy
  • Fear of being sexually abused
  • Fear of rejection

As you notice, all the reasons are about fear.

Fear of Sexual Intimacy

How you grow up greatly determines your beliefs about yourself and others. Some people grow up in an environment that proclaims that sexual intercourse is wrong except for pro-creation. Depending upon how the person responds to such declarations, s/he could fear that s/he'll be damned for eternity if s/he enjoys having sex. What better way to prevent someone from finding you unattractive than to surround yourself with fat.

Fear of Emotional Intimacy

This fear also arises from the childhood home life. The person does not want their parent's message. In fact, he or she will do anything to avoid it. What better way to prevent people from being attracted to you than to make yourself unattractive.

Fear of Being Sexually Abused

Although similar, this is not the same as fear of sex. The person may truly want to have a sexual relationship, but he or she had been sexually abused and wants to avoid a repeat at all costs. In addition, being a victim of sexual abuse often leads to self-loathing. S/he feels dirty and unworthy. S/he proves this by making herself physically unattractive.

Fear of Rejection

No one likes to be rejected. The embarrassment goes right through the soul whether it's not being selected for a sport's team or someone you like letting you know you're not wanted. When the fear of rejection is so strong, you do what you can to avoid it. You'll make up any kind of excuse from having to work so much you're unavailable to making yourself unattractive.

Residing in the Subconscious

People have a natural inclination to form relationship. We humans are made to be communal. Except for conscious decisions to be a hermit on a mountain, keeping apart from others is on a subconscious level. It is due to wounds which prevent you from being free to form relationship.

When you sabotage your weight loss due to fear of being attractive, you need to heal those hidden wounds. When the wounds are healed, you'll be more successful with weight loss.

Aerobic Exercise and Weight Loss - Discover Why it Is Essential in Weight Loss

Weight loss in simple terms is all about arithmetic. However, unfortunately it is not always that simple to put into action. Everyone knows about faddy diets and weight loss packages that assure you that you will lose two stone in as many weeks, but in reality, weight loss has to be well thought out, realistic and at a moderate and steady pace.

That being said, there is one method in particular that can speed up the process that is safe and will significantly increase your health and fitness levels. That crucial method comes in the form of exercise, aerobic exercise and weight loss go together beautifully.

So how does this work?

Well, if you incorporate exercise into your daily life or two to three times per week, you will increase the amount of calories you burn allowing you to lose more weight. Furthermore, your metabolism will be working harder and more efficiently so even when you are not exercising, you will be burning more energy than when you were doing little to no exercise. It really is as simple as that.

A huge mistake that many people make when they embark on losing weight, is that they think eating very little will help them lose so much more weight. The fact is, the body goes into starvation mode and slows down the metabolism. Energy levels drop dramatically and there is very little motivation for exercise.

Even though some weight will be lost, it will not be in direct proportion to how little food is being consumed.

A far healthier, more realistic and sustainable weight loss regime, is to eat smaller portions, watching the fat content, reduce the calorie intake depending on your initial weight, height and gender, making sure to increase your exercise levels. This healthy calorie reduction, aerobic exercise and weight loss can take you all the way to your target weight and your body will become much fitter and stronger in the process.

There are many different forms of exercise which burn varying amounts of energy. Strenuous exercise such as climbing stairs burns far more energy than brisk walking minute for minute. However you can be sure that after a short time you will be burnt out from climbing stairs, however you will be able to walk briskly for a longer period of time.

This just highlights that moderate, aerobic exercise is just as beneficial, if not more, as it is more realistic, less of an assault on the body and maintainable.

Chin Lipo to Re-Contour Your Face After Weight Loss

A large weight loss can be a life changing journey, and chin lipo can help re-contour the outline of your face to complete your transition to your brand new image.

In today's modern society, our easy access to convenience and processed foods, and our lack of time to spend preparing meals from scratch has led to weight gain right across the population. With our more sedentary lifestyles we are having to work harder to keep our weight down. Is it any wonder at the proliferation of gyms and weight loss clinics springing up on every street corner.

The thing is, once we have put in the effort and the extra unhealthy weight is gone, often you're left with stubborn pockets of fat on your face and body that simply won't shift, no matter what you do. Tummy tucks and buttock lifts are very common procedures - but what about the more delicate parts of the body, like the face? Your facial profile can be so important to your general appearance, and to be left with sagging jowls can really be a downer after you've lost all of that weight.

Thankfully though, with the advent of modern methods like Vaser liposelection and Smartlipo laser lipo, careful re-sculpting of the chin area and other small delicate areas are becoming more popular.

Vaser liposelection and Smartlipo laser lipo use tiny cannulas, this makes them perfect for re-contouring the jaw line and under the chin area. As these areas are so small, the procedure is usually completed under local anesthetic only, which is great if you're sensitive to general anesthesia. As a result of this, you can go home the same day as the lipo in most cases. If you're a busy parent - or someone who can't take a lot of time off work - this is a really excellent advantage.

Since the cannulas are so small, scars can be kept to a minimum. The incisions are placed just under the chin where they would be difficult to see anyway. Facial liposuction of any kind is a delicate procedure, so the smaller cannulas are very useful in that respect also. Bruising is minimal, but you will need to wear a compression garment for a few days after to aid healing and ensure the skin remains smooth post-liposuction.

As the small amount of swelling goes away, the results often improve exponentially. With the help of the compression garment, the skin will usually shrink back to accommodate its new contour, leaving you with a newly re-contoured jaw-line after your chin lipo.

The beautiful shape your face was meant to have becomes apparent and it really can change the way you look dramatically - for the better. Altogether, the end effect of having chin lipo is that your bone structure will almost immediately show itself to the world.

Weight Loss Scams - Is There a Weight Loss Miracle Or Are They All Scams?

Weight loss scams promise massive weight loss for little or no results. If you type in "weight loss" to Google you will see hundreds of ads for weight loss miracles, pills, lotions and potions, miraculous breakthroughs and natural remedies.

All these claim to be the ultimate weight loss secret, but none of them really work. Trust Miss Gullible - I've tried them.

I am sure you already know that the only way to lose weight is diet and exercise. That is what everyone says, but I suppose we are always seeking an easier, quicker way. As a society we want things done now and weight loss is no exception.

These weight loss scams will use many different testimonials and pictures of attractive people, along with "medical advice".

Again the golden rule of "if it seems to good to be true then it probably is" still applies.

But it is all very well to say this now, Miss Gullible has still fallen for these scams and here is an example:

I am not overweight, but I was feeling ugly and fat one day when I was surfing the net and decided to look up "how to lose weight". I was surprised to see the huge amount of ads for various weight loss products, gimmicks, machines, lotions and pills. I decided to buy some Hoodia. It is a kind of cactus plant that suppresses the appetite.

I bought a bottle of pills and was excited to try them. Well guess what they didn't work.

Another time I decided to try some Reductil, which is a prescription drug for weight loss. It worked for a day, was ridiculously expensive and made me really dizzy and sick.

I was watching TV one day and an ad came on for an ab machine. I thought if I had one I could use it in the evenings. The ad was full of beautiful people and I was seduced. It didn't work and it was as boring as hell.

I have tried cellulite lotions, pills, machines, gadgets and gizmos, but the only thing that has worked is the gym and healthy eating.

What works even better is being a few pounds over weight and being able to relax.

Please don't waste your money. Buy yourself something gorgeous to make yourself feel good instead.

Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pills - A Weight Loss Review

Diet pills available today vary in effects to help you in your weight loss program. Some only take one, while some make use of different products to stimulate more weight loss functions in their anatomy. One of the most popular methods under this category is the Hoodia Gordonii diet pill.

Facts About Hoodia Gordonii

Hoodia Gordonii is a plant found only in South Africa. It smells like rotten meat and it is not beautiful to look at. But the natives find this plant a lifesaver, especially the substances found in its extracts.

The Hoodia plant is used by hunters during their hunting trips in the Kalahari Desert. The pungent juice is used to treat infection, but its main application is its capability to suppress hunger that is quite useful to the natives when they are out and about looking for food.

Medical experts today conducted a study on the substances found in Hoodia Gordonii and reported that it is a safe and reliable way to lose weight. In controlled doses, Hoodia Gordonii diet pills is capable of suppressing an individuals hunger for a hours that is quite useful for those who are planning to cut down on their food intake to help in their weight loss program.

Health care and weight loss experts give detailed prescription to use this herbal supplement for maximum effect. One pill is enough to eliminate food cravings for half-a-day while others have to take two just to stem off hunger pangs.

Lower Back Pain and Weight Loss

Notice how the article title isn't "Lower Back Pain and Dieting"?

There's a reason for that, and you probably heard it before. While lifestyle changes work, diets don't. It makes a lot of sense, yet it's so widely overlooked by people from all walks of life, and that includes back pain sufferers.

There is at least one connection between extra weight and back pain: The spine is designed to sustain a certain amount of weight, when the spine is forced to carry an extra load, most of the added pressure is put on the lower back, which is the area most back pain sufferers complain about. Over one third of all adult Americans are categorized as obese; over 60% of all adult Americans are either overweight or obese. Lack of exercise in combination with a weakened muscular-skeletal system are a sure-fire recipe for back pain. Most people, when facing back pain, reduce their activity levels even more, which in turn results in weight gain, which result, at least partially, in added pressure on the lower back.

So how do most people treat back pain? The most common approach is drugs; analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, are used to treat mild to moderate back pain. Acute back pain is treated with opioids, which are considerably more potent and can only be purchased by prescription. Going back to anti-inflammatory drugs, you might find it interesting that one anti-inflammatory drug that is accessible to anyone is... food! There are food choices out there that are highly anti-inflammatory, and the beauty of that fact is that, provided that the right choices are made, one can cook and eat anti-inflammatory meals that will empower them in the fight against back pain; in addition, inflammation has been linked to other diseases like cancer, arthritis, etc. There are plenty of resources out there that can guide you in the search for anti-inflammatory foods.

Making the right food choices can and will change the way your entire body functions. Choosing your foods right and eating the amount that your body needs to function, are a must, whether you're suffering from back pain or you are in the best shape of your life. If you search the Internet for "nutrition", "weight loss", or any related terms, you'll find hundreds if not thousands of websites, articles and blogs on the topic. Some of them contradict each other, some claim to be the single best resource, while others are simply informative - those are my favourite.

From my experience, the one resource you need to listen to is your body reacting to whatever you put in it. You'll notice that you might feel less energetic after eating an entire bowl of pasta, or on the flip side, a balanced grilled chicken breast salad will make you feel nourished, light and energetic. Learn to listen to the signals your body gives you, tune in to the reaction it has to food and adjust your intake so it'll suit your body's needs. A few principles I learned to live by have been working for me, so I'll share them below. They're simple, yet easy to follow. This is not one of those " 8 tips to stay in shape" or "5 foods you should avoid if you don't want to stay obese", and so forth. They're just *some* principles that work if you apply them:

- Try to incorporate a a balanced percentage of all three food groups in your meals: protein, carbs, and fat. Personally, I go for 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat.

- Make sure your protein sources are high quality: white meats, lean beef cuts, skim cheese.

- Not all carbs are created equal; stay away from the refined ones like sugar, white bread, white pasta. You know which ones are not good, so it should be easy to avoid them.

- Fat needs to be a part of your every meal and it needs to be high quality fat, like olive oil. Nuts are also an excellent source of fat.

- Drink your water. Ditch the sodas.

- Eat well, but don't overfill yourself. You want to reach and maintain a healthy weight, so your spine will have to work only as hard as it should, as opposed to being overloaded with extra pounds.

Like I said, there are plenty of articles and resources out there, so feel free to try them out and adapt them to your needs.

The battle against back pain is not an easy one, so it needs to be carried out on all fronts: diet, exercise and a healthy mind. All three are interconnected and when you improve them all, there's no way you can't win this battle. I can't stress enough the importance of eating right and exercising. It's the combination that took me from suffering from back pain at 190-192 pounds and barely active, to 162-165 pounds, active, and most importantly, vibrant and happy. Oh, and back pain-free as well.

What Makes a Good Weight Loss Coaching Programme?

Numerous ways to lose weight are marketed, sold, and undertaken. Some are good, some are bad, and some are even dangerous.

In desperation people starve themselves, take pills, and even undergo surgery all in the quest to lose fat from their bodies, often with disastrous results: starving results in binge eating and can lead to eating disorders; taking pills can cause serious negative health problems including organ failure and usually results in rebound weight gain once the pills are stopped; and surgery can leave the individual seriously malnourished, doesn't deal with their thought processes, and can even be fatal.

However, there is a gold standard which does have good results and that is a cognitive behaviourally based weight loss treatment programme that incorporates sound nutritional advice and encourages lifestyle changes. Such programmes have been shown to have the highest success rate in a clinical setting.

Outline of a Good Weight Loss Programme

A good weight loss programme will incorporate nutrition, lifestyle, activity, and attitude:

Nutritional guidelines will cover a large number of areas including, just for example, understanding what happens to food in the body as it is digested including how it contributes to energy levels, how it is stored, what it is used for; how to keep blood sugar stable; understand why all calories are not equal; learn about hidden calories and fat; how to eat for weight loss and maintenance and how much protein, carbohydrates, and fats to eat; superfoods, how to be creative with lower fat foods, and how to increase fibre in the diet.

Lifestyle guidelines are very important in learning how to lose weight effectively and permanently and should cover a large number of areas including, for example, keeping a food diary, how to maximise awareness of eating, identifying food triggers, how to follow an eating plan, shopping from a list, shopping on a full stomach, leave the table after eating, develop strategies for eating away from home, plan and prepare for special events, address drinking alcohol, handle eating situations at work, understand your behaviour chains.

Activity guidelines should include, for example, understanding the benefits of exercise, destroy myths about exercise (e.g. it makes you hungry, it has to hurt to work etc.); increase lifestyle activity such as walking, using the stairs, consider programmed activity and make it fun, don't use exercise to punish yourself for eating, don't be all or nothing, and so on.

Attitude guidelines will cover common cognitive distortions in obesity such as wrong information; all or nothing thinking; rule based thinking; beliefs about food and eating; beliefs about healthy eating; beliefs about health and weight; beliefs about diets, thoughts acting as commands (automatic fattening thoughts); obesogenic values; mind reading; beauty bound thinking; labelling; and awfulising.

The coach will be able to deliver this information whilst examining the personal circumstances of the client and exploring their psychology, including their values and beliefs, whilst coaching for behavioural change. The coach will be a teacher, motivator, educator, supporter, and mentor.

A number of areas will be explored including the client's history of weight, personal difficulties, lifestyle, relationships, any emotional eating, body image, food meaning, attitudes, lapse and lapse management, nutrition, motivation, the self, personal physiology, and activity levels.

A good weight loss programme is not about handing out a diet sheet and then weighing the individual at regular intervals, weighing might not even come into it, it will be holistic in nature looking at the client's lifestyle, relationships, eating habits, and psychology, past and present. and its aims will be to help the client change at a cognitive and behavioural level so that current thought processes and eating habits are changed and weight loss achieved and maintained.

Smart and Simple Steps to Weight Loss

In previous articles I have tried to avoid advancing specific opinions or theories and offering abbreviated answers to complex questions. I have rather tried, in my own way, to point readers in the right direction and to get them thinking positively about how to effectively tackle issues on their own. The subject of weight loss will be no different. There are tens of thousands of different miracle cures, instant result diets, sure fire exercise methods and gadgets and tons of pills and potions guaranteed to turn us into beautiful people overnight. Some will produce a degree of the promised effect. Most will not and will leave you despondent and out of pocket. This article will attempt to give the reader some insight into the basic first steps in effective, long term weight loss.

There is probably no single personal health issue that enjoys more attention, elicits more heated debate or generates more income from a bigger spin-off industry than weight loss. And as we become ever more conscious of health issues and personal appearance and our environment becomes more rewarding of the svelte and beautiful, the weight loss phenomenon will surely continue to gain ground.

One of the main reasons that a subject as outwardly simple as weight loss continues to confound so many people, and enjoys as many varied and sometimes contradictory theoretical solutions is that it is not simple at all. The basic theory behind weight loss is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Your body needs X to survive and maintain a healthy body fat relationship when you expend Y in energy on average. If you are consuming X + Z then Z is going to gleefully pack on around your thighs. Or if you start expending Y A, then X becomes excessive and the excess joins Z in a burgeoning waistline. Take in no more than you need and a full length cover feature in Top Ten Sexiest is near at hand. Simple right?

If only! That magical point of balance is subject to so many personal, genetic and environmental variables that few people ever get to achieve acceptable weight loss and maintain ideal body mass. Maintenance being the operative word. Loosing 100 lbs in 6 months is meaningless and even dangerous if you pack 125 on in the following 6. So why is attainable, long term weight loss such a modern day Unicorn? Personally, I think the answer need not be as complex as the question. To effectively loose weight and then keep it off we need to know ourselves. And no, I do not mean a pilgrimage to Tibet in search of the inner you.

Anyone who has spent time in the military will know that the best way to conquer an enemy is to know him well. Accurate intelligence wins battles. We need to know exactly what we are dealing with on a personal, physical basis before we rush out to buy into the newest fad diet. Knowing what type of metabolism we have, how pre-existing medical conditions affect that metabolism, and even what food allergies we may suffer from is an essential first step in effective weight loss. Only then can we make informed calls on how to control our weight. No two people have the same physical profile or exercise and nutritional needs. So generic weight loss methods are usually doomed to deliver marginal benefit or fail right out of the box. This is where that personal knowledge comes in.

See you family doctor and have a battery of basic tests run such as thyroid function, blood sugar and insulin response, a complete cholesterol count, liver and renal function. Based on these results, a doctor can usually decide on any relevant treatment, draw up a report and refer you to a reputable dietitian. There, based on their assessment and the doctors report, you will receive definitive advice about how to structure your diet according to your medical profile, body type and nutritional needs.

The dietitian will also be able to give some advice on what you should be doing to optimize you energy expenditure. This in itself is usually enough to deliver results and if followed will almost certainly lead to sustainable weight loss results. Especially so as your energy levels are bound to rise due to the beneficial effects of a good, specifically designed diet. This is the point where fitness pro steps up to the plate.

When considering a specific exercise regimen please keep this in mind. Do not let Mr Atlas at the local gym sell you on some wonder schedule that will turn you into a ripped wonder overnight. Remember the magic word - sustainability. Rather get into an exercise habit that you will be able to enjoy and ideally include in your family activity schedule. Nobody wants to do stuff that hurts, so take it easy but KEEP taking it easy. Do not drop out for any reason. I assure you that a sensible, tailored diet and a regular, moderate exercise program will produce better weight loss results than patent snake oil any day.

To close off, base your decisions on professional input and not on infomercial blurb. And maintain -- always maintain. Get definitive, scientific advice about your specific needs then make your weight loss program a fun, lifestyle issue. That way it becomes part of your life and not something that has a 30 sachet lifespan.
Good luck!

In a world of instant gratification, you will easily learn, when searching for a weight loss plan, that diet marketers will tell you just about anything to sell you their diet plan or their weight loss solution. In sifting through all of this hype, you must learn what it truly takes to lose weight. The answer is proper nutrition and exercise. The answer is not what you are going to hear many times, like, "take this magic diet pill and the weight will melt away in a week. There is no real solution that offers results like this.

You see, weight loss is a gradual thing that takes time. It took you a lot of time and effort to put on all that extra weight and now it is going to take some time to get it off. Take diet for example, it really is easy to eat healthy food and actually enjoy it. You have to stop thinking about healthy food to mean that it does not taste good, this is simply not the case.

Anyone can lose weight, period. It doesn't matter how big you are, or how long you have been overweight, or if it runs in your family. Anyone, with proper diet and/ or exercise can lose weight. Just don't fall prey to the bizarre fast diets that make claims you know are impossible. If something tells you, you will not have to change the way you are eating to lose weight quickly right now, they are telling you a bold face lie. If you don't believe this, then go out and try every fad diet you can find, and see how much weight you lose. Then come back here for a double dose of the honest truth about diets and weight loss.

Making a choice now to lose weight is up to you, there are a lot of good plans out there that do deliver what they promise. There are a lot of great fast diets out there too. Diets that can help you to lose several pounds in a week, but you will have to do the work required, and then, and only then, will you see the fat begin to melt away from your body, and see the beautiful results of a skinnier you staring back at yourself in the mirror. When you start out, don't get discouraged when you feel like you are not losing weight. Don't get on the scale at all. Think about fat loss first, don't worry about weight loss. After a few weeks, and being consistent, people around you will start to ask you if you've lost weight.

Hypnosis and Weight Loss - How to Train Your Brain to Burn Fat Fast

One of the questions I get asked a lot is whether hypnosis and weight loss make for good bedfellows in the battle of the bulge. Hypnosis has been purported to work very successfully in a number of different habit breaking protocols, and has certainly been advertised as a good vehicle for dieters as well. But is it? Or just another disappointing strategy in a long list of failing approaches to burn the fat, fast? Read on as I share what I hope is a fresh perspective for you!

I have personally seen, (and used to some degree) hypnosis become a powerful ally in the hunt for a beautiful body, and have seen up close it's efficiency in SOME areas good eating habit help. There is a lot of positive data that supports the process that hypnosis aids in helping people break bad habits, but mainstream science is still very iffy on whether this is real, or a placebo effect. My take is this: If you are open minded, and are willing to BELIEVE that the power of hypnotic suggestion is real, and is going to lend you a helping hand in your weight loss journey, you are much more likely to see it work. Simply stated, and this is far beyond the scope of this simple article, there is beginning to be a plethora of pretty convincing anecdotal evidence that supports the notion that our response to things like hypnosis resides MORE strongly in our internal belief structure, rather than simply the treatment itself. Said differently, if you believe that hypnosis works, and subsequently undergo hypnosis as a mechanism to help you lose weight, you are FAR more likely to lose weight than a skeptic would be.

There are whole bodies of work popping up around this "biology of belief" idea that your inner inclination is the most important component to the success rate you will see when trying alternative (and maybe even non - alternative) therapeutic treatments of any kind.

So, my advice to you is this: As part and parcel of a GOOD dietary regimen, and in a supporting role, if you believe that a good hypnotist can implant in your "inner ear" a suggestive motivator to follow through on your diet, by all means, do it! But if you think that simply spending a few hours under the watch-eye of even the very best mental magician is going to melt off the 20 pounds you've gained since having your last child, well - you are going to be bitterly disappointed..:-)

You do need to pick a good diet as well! But, with that said, if you are a believer, like I am, in the absolute power of the mind, go for it. And make sure to share your success like the rest of us do, often! It keeps everyone motivated, losing weight and feeling great..:-)

Tea and Weight Loss - Can You Believe the Hype?

Tea and Weight Loss is quite a phenomena in dieting and slimming worlds. In particular, a lot of focus has been on the weight loss properties of Green Tea and Oolong Tea. So what is the evidence on the power of these Teas and is Tea and Weight Loss a legitimate claim to make.

At the very basic level dieting is about calories in and calories out. Ideally one wants a higher metabolism (i.e the rate at which our body burns of fact, and to reduce the calories coming in. We all understand that a successful diet is about exercise and eating healthily.

How Does Green Tea help all this?

Green Tea has caffeine which helps burn calories, but so does coffee. But the beauty of Green or Oolong Tea is that there is another natural chemical compound such as polyphenol, which help limit the negative effects of a fatty diet, and help the body target fat burning. If you factor in the notion that you have decided to do something about weight management by swapping to a diet tea, and are therefore focusing and watch what you eat and what exercise you take, this in itself will help with your slimming intentions.

Another thing worth considering is that Oolong Tea, and various teas that contain Oolong have added health benefits such as reducing your cholesterol, hypertension, cancer prevention, liver damage and a lot more, thanks to its various anti-oxidants and compounds.

Plenty of celebs swear by various Green teas for their weight management, from Oprah Winfrey, Victoria Beckham, Sofie Dahl.

So is Green Tea a magic bullet when it comes the dieting? There is no diet panacea, BUT it is clear that drinking a Green Tea or Green Diet tea can seriously help and speed up the process of dieting and weight loss, when combined with a general all round weight loss approach. As with all marketing you need to beware the hype. Are you gonna go from a size 16 to size 2 overnight - of course not. Benefits Of Resistance Training For Lean Muscle and Weight Loss

Resistance Training is a popular method for those wishing to improve muscle tone and lose weight. It uses a combination of lifting major weights, keeping repetition low and resting with regular intervals. These fitness programs are designed to force muscles to contract by working against the weight or "the resistance". Resistance training has proven success in both toning muscles, losing weight and increasing overall health.

Increases Muscle Strength
Resistance training is an exercise program that specifically targets muscle strength and muscle development. By placing weight resistance against the muscle, you are challenging the muscle to withstand the weight being forced against it. The muscle must react to this challenge and push back. This, in turn, causes the body to increase the size of the muscle in order to effectively react to the resistance being placed on it.

When an individual uses resistance training, they are, in effect, destroying the body's muscles fibers during each workout. After the workout is complete, the body takes time to heal and rebuild the muscle tissues. Each time this occurs, bigger and more powerful muscle tissues are developed in response to the resistance that is continuously being placed against them. It is important to note the necessary regrowth that needs to occur and give each muscle group time to rebuild before the next weight training session.

Increases Metabolic Process
It takes more energy for a body to maintain muscle mass than it does fat. By constantly increasing muscle mass, you force the body to continuously burn more fat and by targeting muscle development in your exercises, your body will burn fat for muscles even when you are not actively exercising. If combined with a diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates, you can very effectively shed pounds as well as improve your overall fitness level.

Increases Muscle Tone
Body muscles such as the biceps, triceps and hamstrings are targeted in resistance training. They increase in size with this exercise routine, but most importantly, resistance training improves muscle tone. Since the body burning fat at a higher rate as well as putting on lean muscle, arms and legs begin to take on that beautifully toned appearance.

Improves Body Physique
With increased muscle strength and muscle tone combined with a higher metabolic rate that is burning more fat, someone undergoing a resistance program will begin to see significant improvement to their body physique. They will not only shed pounds, but their body will begin to appear leaner, more tone and more fit over the course of their fitness routine.

Surgical Weight Loss - Understanding The Risks!

We take a closer look at the reasons over-weight people and their families are considering surgery to combat the extra kilos and what are the necessary facts anyone opting for this method of weight loss needs to be aware of so as to be an informed and aware consumer of health care products and services, especially in the modern context.

For those who have watched what they are eating and also tried out various exercise options besides fad diets, pills and gadgets promising weight loss but still find body beautiful eludes them, weight loss surgery may well be the answer to all their woes. But, how far is it safe? Is it a long-term option for weight loss and weight management both? What are the possible side-effects of going under the knife? Who can benefit from it? Are there any restrictions on your lifestyle after you go in for weight loss surgery? How much does it cost? What kind of procedures are followed for weight loss surgery and how can one decide whether one is ready for it or not? Which doctor is best for performing weight loss surgery? Does medical insurance cover weight loss surgery? What is the after-care requirement of weight loss surgery?

All these questions need to be addressed first before one opts for weight loss surgery.

First and foremost, weight loss surgery is a major step to take and only recommended by doctors in a worse-case scenario i.e. when no other options for weight loss exist for the patient and if a patient is fit for surgery and can afford it. Overly fat or really obese people are usually recommended to go in for weight loss surgeries and those at health risks for life-threatening diseases may be given the option of going under the knife as well, to get rid of the excess baggage.

Cutting edge technology has empowered weight loss surgery to be considered a viable option for many overweight persons who have undergone a series of pre-surgery tests, including procedures using advanced medical devices such as roentgenograms, lab tests for chemical, bacteriologic and pathologic determination of imbalances in the human body system apart from using monitoring devices that update the doctor about a person's exact health condition, including any genetic disorders.

High clinical standards being strictly adhered for all these pre-surgical steps makes it possible for doctors and surgeons to make informed decisions and accurate diagnosis for a patient's weight problem and to educate them about the best surgical option available to them, within a specific budget and timeline.

Many people may be overly concerned about their appearance and thus aspire to improve on certain body parts but others with excess weigh issues to deal with may actually opt for total body sculpting and weight loss. Weight loss surgery is best considered for the latter case scenario rather than simply cosmetic reasons as it helps people lead longer, healthier more fulfilled ones instead of simply more body/beauty conscious ones.

Thus, people considering weight loss surgery would do well to analyze their true health situation, research the process recommended for them, consult an experienced and qualified bariatric surgeon after getting the nod from their family physician as to the pros and cons of weight loss surgery for themselves.
