Processed Foods: The Real Culprit in the Rise in Obesity and Weight Loss Problems

Why is it that it's getting harder and harder for most of us to lose weight? Is it because we lack the discipline to spend an hour a day to exercise? Recent studies reveal that the reason is far more complex than lack of exercise or lack of discipline in eating. What these studies reveal is that our food supply is being tampered. It no longer contains the essential nutrients and vitamins our body needs.

Modern food processing methods have altered the nature of the food we eat at the molecular level. Instead, we are being bombarded with processed food that has been stripped of vital nutrients that contains only calories in a form that our body would be unable to use.

While we are eating processed foods that contain lots of calories, our body actually doesn't recognize these as food and so it would simply store them as fat. These calories are what are called empty calories. They are calories but in a form that our body doesn't recognize or is unable to utilize. Since the body cannot convert these empty calories into something useful, they will be stored as fat. In the end, this all leaves us fat and still feeling hungry. Hungry, because we are not getting the nutrients our body craves.

Fortunately, this problem can be reversed by changing our diet. We need to go back to the ways of the sages of old. We need to learn from ancient wisdom about right eating and healthy lifestyle.

We need to focus on healthy, natural nutrient rich foods such as the Mediterranean and the traditional Asian diet plans. There is a diet revolution in our midst. We need to go back to healthy eating and healthy lifestyle if we want to live a long and happy life.

You can be a catalyst to this healthy lifestyle by not supporting processed foods and start patronizing healthy, organically grown, fresh natural foods.

The beauty of natural foods is that you can eat as much as you like and still be losing weight. The benefits of a natural healthy diet include:

1. Fast fat loss
2. Better sleep
3. Increased energy level
4. Better, more regular bowel movements
5. Stronger immune system.

The above can all be achieved even without exercise, but if you really want to maximize the effect of your new healthy diet, then you ought to incorporate exercise routines into your program.
